What is a 'stolen tweet'?

This is a tweet, which has a similar content to one of your tweets without mentioning your twittername.

Why do you only find recently stolen tweets?

Twitter can only be searched for recent tweets (~ 7 days back)
To find twitter thieves you have to scan your tweets at least once a week.

What do the categories "current" and "top" mean?

• current: These are your latest tweets
• top: These are your latest tweets that have been retweeted at least once

Hint: For the category "top" you have to login on Twitter!

Why don't I see all my tweets?

There are different reasons:
• all tweets with mentions are excluded
• all tweets with less than 16 symbols are excluded
• only a limited number of tweets are loaded (for more information, see 'How many of my tweets are checked?')

How many of my tweets get searched?

• 50* tweets get searched during a normal search
• 200* tweets get searched during a premium search

Special ("current" search only):
• 100* tweets get searched if you have more that 500 followers and if your last 50 tweets contain one about who.stolemytweet.com

* Tweets with mentions or short texts are subtracted from these numbers

• Bei einer normalen Suche werden die letzten 50* Tweets geprüft
• Bei einer Premium Suche werden die letzten 200* Tweets geprüft

Spezial (nur für "current" Suche):
• Wenn du über 500 Follower hast und in den letzten 50 Tweets über who.stolemytweet.com getwittert hast, werden 100* Tweets geprüft


* Tweets mit Mentions oder kurzen Texten werden davon noch abgezogen

It is about finding tweets which have a similar content to your own tweets. If you have not actually published a famous quote, you can assume the tweets you find to be stolen. Retweets are obviously not considered to be stolen, as the author is visible there.

Stealing tweets is a topic repeatedly discussed on twitter and it evokes very different, even opposing, reactions.

While some people are irritated by the thieves who steal their intellectual property without stating the source, others are simply irritated by the fact that one can be bothered about having one´s tweets stolen.

The interest in checking your tweets´ uniqueness furthermore seems to be specific to certain countries, because the access statistics show that a majority of visitors are from Saudi Arabia, Kuwait and the United States of America.

This website does not represent any point of view in this discussion. It simply offers tweeter an opportunity to check if somebody has stolen their tweets.
